It’s so easy to get caught up in our routines. Getting up, travelling to work for a busy day, travelling home, making dinner, settling your family, checking mails from the couch and heading to sleep, only to repeat it all the following day. It’s important to step back every now and again and appreciate what you have while evaluating the steps you could take to make sure that you’re living life to the full. Here in the Mid-West, we’re very lucky. We’ve attracted some huge international companies to the area thanks to the highly skilled workforce on offer. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world so it’s easy to see why so many people are considering a move here, or returning after living in another part of the country/world. This week’s blog looks at the advantages of living and working in the Mid-West.
1. Save time and money.
Many of us who have lived in Dublin can testify to how awful the commute can be at times. We’re incredibly lucky here in the Mid-West where your commute could be as short as a 10 minute walk! To give you some context, if you work in Limerick and decide to live in the city you could walk to work in as little as 5 or 10 minutes. A commute of 40 minutes would be standard for professionals coming to Limerick from Tipperary town or Mallow, Co. Cork. It would be similar for a person living outside Nenagh, travelling to Shannon every day. Compare this to the commutes of 60 minutes experienced by those travelling from the suburbs of Dublin to Dublin City Centre and you can see why the mid-west work-life balance is so appealing.
Professionals considering a move to the Mid-West also have a huge choice when it comes to renting or buying a home. While rent costs have risen all over the country, it is still less expensive to rent a home in the Mid-West when compared to the Capital. One could easily live in a beautiful picturesque cottage beside the River Shannon in Killaloe and reach their workplace in Limerick city within 30 minutes. With a short commute, more value for money when renting and extra time to spend how you like, it’s easy to see why so many people are considering a move.
2. Spoiled for choice.
The Mid-West boasts a highly skilled workforce with excellent work ethic. This is why we see so many international companies choosing to base themselves here.
